Today, I had the idea to take the kids to the zoo. Initially, the plan was to ask my darling husband if he wanted to accompany us to the zoo tomorrow, his day off. However, Ashley asked if we could go today. I consented. Then, she wanted to invite her grandma, which was okay too. We could not have had a more perfect day!
We arrived at The Detroit Zoo around 11 am. The weather was perfect (sunny and in the mid 60s), and the crowd was light. Perfect zoo conditions. We saw otters, butterflies, camels, deer, pigs, cows, owls, wolverines, seals and polar bears. Ashley only wanted to see the "stinky cows," but perked up at the sight of the seals and polar bears. I have never seen the polar bears so active. They were swimming like crazy and playing in the water. A definite treat! Joshua seemed to enjoy all of the zoo. He liked the pigs, the donkey, the cows, but, most of all, he liked the butterflies. He was picking them out and exploring each of them like they were an undiscovered treat. He would walk up to each one that he found, and exclaim, "buh-fly. buh-fly."
I will upload pictures later. We'll see if they are as interested in the zoo when we go with Daddy tomorrow.
